HackerRank alternatives for Indian hiring teams
Updated
HackerRank is the default name in technical screening, and for good reason. It has a large question library, live interview tools and, more recently, an AI interviewer. But it is not the right fit for every team, especially smaller Indian teams that hire in bursts and pay in rupees. This page compares eight alternatives fairly, including where Eagle Vision is not the best choice.
Last checked: 6 October 2026. Prices and plans change often, so confirm on each vendor’s site.
Why teams look beyond HackerRank
HackerRank’s published plans are in US dollars. As reported by noon.ai in September 2026, Starter costs $79 a month billed annually ($948 a year for 60 candidate attempts) or $99 on monthly billing with 5 attempts a month. Pro costs $419 a month billed annually for 360 attempts a year. Extra attempts are reported at $20 each. HackerRank’s own pricing page did not load for our checks, so treat these as third-party figures.
For a large engineering organisation, that can be good value. Indian teams usually look elsewhere for one of these reasons:
- They want to pay in INR with a GST invoice, rather than in USD on a card.
- Their hiring is uneven, so a fixed monthly or annual allowance of attempts goes unused.
- They want live interviews locked down in fullscreen, with cheating flags, on a small plan.
- They need fewer features, and a simpler tool their whole team will actually use.
What to compare
- Integrity controls: what is flagged, whether sessions are recorded, and which plan includes it.
- Live interviews: video, a shared code pad that runs code, and controls during the call.
- Question types: multiple-choice, coding, and whether you need a large ready-made library.
- Pricing model: seats, attempts, invites, credits or minutes, and whether unused credit expires.
- Currency and billing: INR or USD, monthly or annual commitment.
- Integrations: whether you need the tool to connect to your ATS or other systems.

Short profiles
HackerEarth was founded in Bengaluru and offers assessments and live coding interviews with an integrity layer. Its pricing page did not load for us, and third-party listings report plans from about $209 a month.
Codility focuses on structured engineering assessments. It publishes annual pricing, includes a live interview tool on all plans and offers a desktop app that checks for unauthorised applications on its Custom plan.
CodeSignal combines assessments with AI interviewers and includes AI proctoring and ID verification from its entry plan. Credits work across its formats.
Coderbyte offers monthly, annual and pay-as-you-go invite bundles, with a long list of integrity features. It suits teams that want to pay per batch of candidates.
Equip is an Indian, AI-led ATS with assessments priced in rupees per candidate. It is a strong choice for budget screening at volume. We did not find live human coding interviews on its pricing page.
Xobin has a large test library, a lockdown browser and AI and video interviews. Pricing is usage-based and quoted on request, with a 14-day trial.
CoderPad is a well-known live coding pad with code playback on every plan. Webcam proctoring and real-time cheating alerts are on its Enterprise plan.
Where Eagle Vision fits, and where it doesn’t
Eagle Vision is a good fit if you want:
- Live interviews in fullscreen lockdown on every pack, with live flags, a live integrity score, a shared code pad with real output and a full recording. Each flag is timestamped, so you can jump to it in the recording. See live interviews.
- Timed coding assessments, with timed multiple-choice sections for aptitude and technical topics, sent to each candidate by their own link. Each attempt is recorded with the candidate’s camera and gets an integrity score. See secure assessments.
- No installs for candidates. They open the link in a desktop browser and pass a quick device check, with no account to create.
- One INR balance for both. Live interviews are charged on the minutes actually used, so a 60-minute interview costs at most about ₹189 to ₹299 + GST, and a 60-minute assessment about ₹95 to ₹150 + GST, depending on the pack.
- No subscription and no expiry. Credits stack, every pack includes unlimited employee logins, and new organisations get 90 free minutes. See pricing.
- Interviewer, Admin and Owner roles and an audit log, so a whole hiring team can share one account.
Choose something else if you need:
- A large ready-made test library. Eagle Vision’s question bank holds your own coding questions plus a small shared pool of ready-made coding questions with visible and hidden test cases, not hundreds of pre-built tests. HackerRank, Codility, HackerEarth or Xobin fit better.
- An AI interviewer. Eagle Vision interviews are run by your people. Look at HackerRank, CodeSignal, Equip or Xobin.
- Automated ID verification. Eagle Vision has none. Coderbyte and CodeSignal list it.
- Detection of named apps. Eagle Vision flags behaviour, not specific tools. Codility’s desktop app on its Custom plan is designed to detect unauthorised applications.
- ATS integrations or an API. Eagle Vision has no ATS integrations and no public API, so results stay in Eagle Vision. If candidates must flow automatically from your ATS, choose a platform that integrates with it, or an ATS with built-in assessments such as Equip.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an Indian alternative to HackerRank with INR pricing?
Yes. Eagle Vision and Equip both publish prices in rupees. Eagle Vision uses prepaid minute packs for live interviews and assessments; Equip sells per-candidate credits for assessments and AI interviews.
What is the cheapest HackerRank alternative?
It depends on what you buy, because the units differ: attempts, invites, credits or minutes. On Eagle Vision, a 60-minute assessment costs about ₹95 to ₹150 + GST. Equip publishes ₹95 per assessment credit. Compare the total for your actual monthly volume.
Does Eagle Vision have a question library like HackerRank?
Not a large one. The question bank holds the coding questions your organisation writes, plus a small shared pool of ready-made coding questions with visible and hidden test cases. Assessments can also include timed multiple-choice sections for aptitude and technical topics. If you need a large library of ready-made tests, a library-led platform such as HackerRank, Codility, HackerEarth or Xobin is the better choice.
Can I run proctored live coding interviews without a subscription?
Yes. Eagle Vision uses prepaid minutes that never expire, with no subscription, and live interviews are charged on the minutes actually used. Every live interview includes fullscreen lockdown, live flags, a live integrity score, a shared code pad and a recording.
