A secure alternative to Zoom, Google Meet and Teams for interviews
Updated
Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams are excellent meeting tools, and most teams already pay for one of them. That is why they became the default for remote interviews. But an interview is not a meeting. In a meeting, everyone is on the same side. In an interview, you need to know that the answers you hear are the candidate’s own, and you may need to show that later.
This page explains what general meeting apps can and can’t do for interviews, and when a dedicated interview platform such as Eagle Vision is the better fit.
What meeting apps were built for, and what interviews need
Meeting apps are designed to make collaboration easy. Participants can share any window, keep other apps open, paste links into chat and step away whenever they like. That freedom is a feature in a team meeting.
An interview needs almost the opposite:
- A controlled screen, so the candidate works inside the interview and not alongside other tools.
- Visibility when they step out, so you know if they switched tabs or pasted something in.
- A shared place to write and run code, for technical roles.
- A recording you can trust, with the code and any flags kept together.
- A consistent setup for every candidate, so results are comparable and fair.
What Zoom, Meet and Teams can’t see
When a candidate shares their screen in a meeting app, you see only what they choose to share. You don’t see other monitors, other windows, a phone beside the laptop, or apps designed to stay out of the screen share.
That last point matters more each year. Real-time AI interview copilots listen to the call and show suggested answers in a window built to be invisible to screen sharing. Final Round AI, for example, says its copilot windows are “hidden from screen sharing and recording in Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and more”. Wikipedia describes Cluely’s overlay in similar terms.
So, can Zoom detect cheating? Not on its own. Based on their public documentation as of October 2026, none of the three apps has a built-in feature that locks a participant into fullscreen or flags tab switches and pastes. Some teams add a separate detection tool on top of the call. Others move interviews to a platform built for them.
To be fair about recording: all three apps can record, depending on the plan and the organisation’s settings. Recording a call is useful, but it captures the call, not what happened outside the shared window.
For the warning signs to watch for on any platform, see our guide on how to tell if a candidate is using AI.

How a locked-down interview runs
- Schedule and invite. Pick the role, the interviewer and the time slot. The candidate gets a link. There is nothing to install and no candidate login: they open the link in a desktop browser (Chrome, Edge or Firefox recommended), and a quick device check confirms that the camera, microphone, fullscreen support and video connection work. That is a real difference from detection tools that need an agent installed on the candidate’s computer.
- Interview in lockdown. You talk face to face on camera while the candidate’s screen stays locked to the interview in fullscreen. You write and run code together on the shared code pad, and you see a live flag the moment they leave fullscreen, switch tabs, move the cursor to another screen, or copy, cut or paste text. Copying inside the shared code pad or chat isn’t flagged. An integrity score starts at 100 and drops by a fixed amount with each flag, so you can see at a glance how the session is going.
- Review the proof. Afterwards, open the recording and the report. Every flag is timestamped, so you can click one and jump to that moment in the recording.
Each team member has one of three roles: Interviewer, Admin or Owner. An audit log records the actions that matter, including scheduling, updating, cancelling, starting and ending interviews, feedback, role changes, enabling or disabling accounts, ownership changes, purchases, assessments created or cancelled, job roles and settings changes. That helps when several people interview for the same role.
One honest limit: Eagle Vision flags behaviour, not specific apps. A copilot on a second device, or one that never makes the candidate leave the interview screen, may not raise a flag. Good interview questions still matter. Our guide on how to detect Cluely in interviews covers the questions that copilots handle badly.

Pricing: pay per minute in INR
There is no per-seat subscription. Eagle Vision uses prepaid minute packs priced in rupees, and the credits never expire.
| Pack | Minutes | Price (+ 18% GST) | Per minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 360 | ₹1,794 | about ₹4.98 |
| Team | 1,200 | ₹4,380 | ₹3.65 |
| Enterprise | 2,700 | ₹8,505 | ₹3.15 |
Live interviews are charged on the minutes actually used. Minutes are reserved when you schedule, any unused minutes come back when the interview ends, and you get a full refund if nobody joins. So a 60-minute interview costs at most about ₹189 to ₹299 + GST, depending on the pack. Assessments use the same balance at half their scheduled time. Packs stack, and every pack includes unlimited employee logins.
New organisations get 90 free minutes when they sign up, with no card needed. That is enough for one 90-minute interview or three 60-minute assessments. See pricing for details.
When a meeting app is still the right choice
Not every conversation needs lockdown. A first chat with a recruiter, a culture conversation with the founder or a sell call with a senior candidate can stay on Zoom, Meet or Teams. Use a locked-down interview where the answers carry weight: technical rounds, skills checks and any round where a hire depends on what the candidate can do alone.
Frequently asked questions
Can Zoom detect cheating in an interview?
Zoom has no built-in feature that locks a candidate's screen or flags tab switches and pastes, based on its public documentation as of October 2026. AI copilot tools also say they are hidden from Zoom's screen share. You can record the call, but that won't show what happened outside the shared window.
Can Google Meet tell if a candidate switches tabs?
Not as a built-in feature. Meet shows what the candidate shares and can record on eligible plans, but it doesn't flag tab switches or pastes. Eagle Vision shows these as live flags during the interview.
Is Eagle Vision a full replacement for Zoom?
No. Eagle Vision is built for interviews and assessments, not for team meetings or webinars. Most teams keep their meeting app for everyday calls and use Eagle Vision for the rounds where integrity matters.
Does Eagle Vision record interviews?
Yes. Every live interview is recorded: the video call, the shared code pad, the live flags and the integrity score. You watch recordings in the app, and each flag is timestamped so you can jump straight to it from the report. Your organisation's owner chooses whether recordings are kept for 30, 45 or 60 days.
Do candidates need to install anything?
No. Candidates open a link in a desktop browser, with Chrome, Edge or Firefox recommended, and don't need an account. A quick device check confirms the camera, microphone, fullscreen support and video connection work before they join.
How much does a one-hour interview cost?
At most about ₹189 to ₹299 + GST, depending on the pack. You are charged for the minutes actually used, unused minutes are returned when the interview ends, and nothing is charged if nobody joins. Credits never expire, and new organisations get 90 free minutes to try it.
Can Eagle Vision tell me which AI tool a candidate used?
No. It flags behaviour, such as leaving fullscreen, tab switches, the cursor moving to another screen, and copying, cutting or pasting, and it records the session for review. It does not identify apps by name.
